It takes time, a lot of time, to run a successful windsurfing association and conduct a full schedule of windsurfing competition. The time commitment often prevents people from volunteering ... but RaceManPro makes it fun, fast, easy, accurate and fair for all! In this day and age of information technology, it would be sad for our sport to be without professional software or for windsurfing to be the last major sport to acquire such software. Happily, the sport of windsurfing is on the cutting edge of technology with RaceManPro. It's the world's most comprehensive program for windsurfing clubs and associations! Here's what it can do:

SAIL REGISTRY

The Sail Registry has a couple million record capacity (if you need more, let us know!) You can print the registry either alphabetically by Name or alphanumerically by Sail Number.

BUSINESS DATABASE

The Business Database also has a couple million record capacity and has over 850 Windsurfing related records already entered. You can edit contacts or delete those you don't want and add those you do.

COMPETITION APPLICATIONS

Racing. The Racing Application includes Course Racing and its variations, Slalom Racing and Long Distance. Slalom Racing features a computerized Heat Assignment Program.

Each Competition Application has its own unique Event table but uses a common Recap table. This feature avoids needless duplication and conserves valuable disk space. Event tables are used for individual Events. Recap tables are used for a Regatta or Season Recaps.

RaceManPro offers all possible scoring formats within the scope of "straight line" Low Point Scoring. (In a "Straight-Line" Scoring System, the scale of points between all finishing places is a constant, thus it rewards performance in direct proportion to finishing place. In "Curved-Line" Scoring Systems, the scale of points between finishing places diminishes progressively from first to last or to some place before last, thus it creates a bias in favor of winners over losers.)

In Low Point scoring of a three competition group event (i.e. Fleets, Classes and Divisions), there are 24 possible Scoring Protocols depending on how you conduct your Event (i.e. which Competition Format you choose to use) and RaceManPro has them all. Moreover, RaceManPro makes your job of selecting the right Scoring Protocol really easy with this Online Help Program. Go to "RC Help #5, Determining your Scoring System".

When the time comes to transfer Event results to a Regatta or Season Recap, RaceManPro offers four possibilities:

  • Transfer of Reverse Scored Points to Recap

  • Transfer of Event Totals to Recap

  • Transfer of Event Rankings to Recap

  • Transfer of Event Ranking Percentages to Recap

  • Transfer of Names of Top Performers to Recap (feature not completed)

Surely, one of these options will be just right for your needs! There's a pro side and a con side for each and we could argue forever which is best. RaceManPro offers them all and encourages you to enjoy using your favorite! You can be confident the results are valid.

Regatta or Season Recap and Multi-Discipline Recap. At the end of the Regatta or Season, you can select from two main Tabulation Methods for your Recap: High Scores or Cumulative Tabulation. You can reverse score the resulting rankings and transfer the points into the Multi-Discipline Application. You can select from two Tabulation Methods for your Multi-Discipline Recap: by Discipline Ranking or by Discipline Points. RaceManPro even has a Regional Ranking capability where Season Recap Rankings can be sorted Regionally (i.e. by a particular Region, State or Province).

Computer Generated Heat Assignments. If you've got the wind, Slalom Racing is fun! However, the Elimination format and scoring isn't fun for less skilled or unlucky racers! After the second round, 75% of the racers are sitting on the beach watching the skilled or lucky ones! The Hawaii Amateur Windsurfing Association International Incorporated (H.A.W.A.I.I.) on Oahu tested RaceManPro's Heat Assignment concept for several years and the racers loved it. This computerized heat assignment program can revolutionize Slalom Racing because it puts the fun back into racing! No more sitting around on the beach. No more watching the good guys (or lucky ones) race. With everybody racing every race, this method is "racing to da max!" and it doesn't take any more time than the traditional Elimination system!

It's easy! Just tell RaceManPro which group you want heat assignments for, the number of races you want to run and the preferred number of racers in a heat. RaceManPro assigns heatsfor everybody, or for an entire Fleet, or for a Class within the Fleet, or for a Division within the Fleet and Class.

It's fast! Number the heats or let RaceManPro number them for you, then tell RaceManPro to transfer the heat numbers for each racer to the Event table. This can save you hours and totally eliminate the possibility of errors. It's important for RaceManPro to know the heat numbers so it can break ties fairly.

It's complete! Competitors have to know what heat they're in and scorekeepers have to have a record of assigned heats! So, tell RaceManPro to print out Heat Assignments and Scoresheets. That s all there is to it!

This program can save you hours of time! Best of all, it puts the racers on the water racing, not on the beach waiting!

Be aware, however, that the program does not take into account the skill level of the racers and thus can not monitor the heat assignments for skill level. According to the Laws of Probability, most heats will have a good mix of skill levels but it's always possible that a few could be exceptionally easy and a few could be exceptionally difficult. On the flip side, the Elimination Competition Format's seeding of heats could treat racers even more unkindly than RaceManPro's inability to take into account racer's skill levels!

Freestyle, Wave Performance, and Speed Trials. For the purpose of being able to include all disciplines in the Multi-Discipline Application, we offer applications for Freestyle, Wave Performance, Speed Trials, and Team Slalom (this feature not completed). You can also use the Wave Performance application for Elimination style Slalom and Team Racing but we recommend using the Computerized Heat Assignment feature instead.

Triathlon. The Triathlon is an interesting concept which you might like to try someday just for the fun of it. Select several sports and run a Triathlon. Try, for example, Swimming, Biking and Windsurfing or Jogging, Skate boarding and Windsurfing or whatever combination of sports appeal to you (just make sure Windsurfing is one of them!). It's really fun and competitors who are into cross training really go for it!

Ledger. The Ledger Application, an extension of the Event Ledger utility, makes it easy to account for all income and expenses related to racing and running an Association. The Ledger program has two tables: an Event Ledger and a Season or Annual Summary Ledger. The Event Ledger can be transferred to the Summary Ledger.

Race Calendar. The Race Calendar Builder gives you an easy way to build a Race Calendar and make a printout. Attach your Association or shop's logo to the printout, make copies and distribute.

Sail Registry. You can use RaceManPro's Sail Registry to register Sail Numbers for your club's members/competitors. Also, you can pre-register competitors, check them in to your Event and charter IMCO equipment to competitors. Need a special report? RaceManPro lets you preview, print and send to file various Sail Registry reports, membership cards and registration Cards : Pre-Registered, Pre-Registered and Checked In, Chartered, Competitor's IMCO Charter Form, Competitor's Check In Form, Sail Registry by Sail#, Sail Registry by Name, Race Committee, Team Riders, International and National Formula 42 Class Members, International and National IBSA Class Members, International and National IFCA Class Members, International and National IMCO Class Members, Local Association and National Association Members.

The Windsurfing Business Database is for windsurfing related contacts: Dealers and Retailers, Distributors, Governmental Contacts, Instruction and Schools, Manufacturers, Media and Magazines, Water Photographers, Public Relations Agencies, Manufacturing Reps and Windsurfing Vacation Sites and Resorts. The Windsurfing Business Database ships with over 850 windsurfing related contact names. Delete contacts you don't want and add ones you do.
