Chapter 57. Stress Options Exercises: Instructions

Stress Option A/B Exercise gives you practice in differentiating between expressing feelings the right way or expressing feelings the wrong way.

Stress Option C/D Exercise gives you practice in differentiating between accepting feelings or rejecting feelings.

In both of these exercises, you are asked to:

Mark "X" in column 1 if the statement is one or similar to one you make a great deal.

Mark in column 2:

"R" if it's and example of the right way (Stress Option A [Express Right Way] or C [Accept Feelings]); and

"W" if it's an example of the wrong way (Stress Option B [Express Wrong Way] or D [Reject Feelings]).

After you finish, compare your answers with those suggested and correct any you may have missed. Then underline or yellow highlight every statement on your Exercise Sheets that has a suggested answer of "R".

When under stress, try to avoid using statements marked "W" and instread choose one of those you marked with "R" and have just underlined or yellow highlighted. (Incidentally, a good way to tell when you're under stress is if you find yourself using statements marked with "W"!)
